Jazz band is open to all students who are currently enrolled in the 7th and 8th grade band classes. Students will be required to practice their jazz band pieces at home in addition to practicing all of their other music for concerts, etc. All students who are willing to give this extra time may try-out in September for the 2010-2011 Grimmer Jazz Band.

Jazz Band will meet every Tuesday & Friday morning from 7:30-8:30 in the band room throughout the year. I will notify students at prior practices if ever there are changes/cancellations. Since our time together is limited, students are expected to be in their seats, ready to begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. Thank you, in advance, to you wonderful parents for getting your child to school by 7:20 a.m., your efforts will be greatly appreciated.

Jazz Band will perform during and/or after the following concerts:

• The 6th grade concerts on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 & Friday, May 13, 2011
• The 7th/8th grade concerts on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 & Friday, May 6, 2011

Special events will include performances at:

• Watson Elementary Holiday Assembly (during the school day in December)
• Grimmer Holiday Assembly (during the school day in December)
• Grimmer Dinner/Dance fund-raiser on Friday, April 29, 2011
• Annual Jazz Fest at Kahler M.S. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 @ 7:00 p.m.
